Wilma Rippentrop

Wilma Rippentrop, 100, of Lennox, SD, died Saturday, Febuary 10, 2018 at the Sanford Ava's House, Sioux Falls, S.D. Wilma Marie Wittrock was born on April 19, 1917, near Primghar, IA, the daughter of Hugo and Clara (Kock) Wittrock. She grew up attending rural school in Dale Township and graduated from Primghar High School in 1935. She went on to graduate with a business degree from Nettleton College in 1936, where she was awarded first place for her penmanship. She worked at an insurance company for a period of time. On January 27, 1940 she married Wessel Rippentrop at Calumet, IA. The couple farmed near Tea, SD. She moved into Lennox in 2000. Wessel died on April 25, 2001. Wilma has lived at the Good Samaritan Luther Manor for the past three years. Wilma was an active member of Germantown Presbyterian Church, where she belonged to Women In the Church (WIC). She was also a member of the Know Your Neighbor Extension Club, Lennox Senior Citizens and Christian Women's Club. Wilma enjoyed travel and took several bus trips and traveled to Germany. She liked to sew pajamas and doll clothes. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, baking and water color painting. Her family was very important to her. Besides her parents and husband, Wessel, Wilma was preceded in death by son-in-law, Rodney Vietor; brothers: Ervin Wittrock and Donald Wittrock and two great-grandsons: Christopher Rippentrop and Tristin Rippentrop. Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Karen Vietor, Dell Rapids, Dean (Cinda) Rippentrop, Chancellor, Allen (Kathy) Rippentrop, Tea and Joan (Glenn) Muller, Davis; 12 grandchildren: Grant (Bonita) Vietor, Greg (Char) Vietor, Genell (Joseph) Schuh, Julie (Richard) Fuglsang, Jeff (Teresa) Rippentrop, Jodi (Mel) Zimmer, Andy (Marissa) Rippentrop, Mike (Lacey) Rippentrop, Sarah (Shannon) Voegele, Scott Muller (Amie Larsen), Shelly (Cory) Altena and Steven (Amy) Muller; 27 great-grandchildren: Kyle, Bret and Courtney Rippentrop, Ryan, Alex and Sidney Zimmer, Nicholas, Jordan, Gabrielle & Hannah Schuh, Moriah, Isaac & Christian Vietor, Madeline, Jacob & Rachael Vietor, Ryan & Jenna Fuglsang, Cassidy, Greydin & Clayton Rippentrop, Cash & Sage Voegele, Kinsly & Keilanhny Altena, Shaden & Shally Muller; siblings: Helen Hanson, Walter Wittrock, Vernon Wittrock, Marge Hunt and Arlene Brown. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 16 at Germantown Presbyterian Church, rural Chancellor, SD and burial in the Germantown Cemetery. Visitation with the family present wil be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thusday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
