Vonda Terveen

Vonda Terveen, 76, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at the Avera Dougherty Hospice Cottage, Sioux Falls. Vonda was born on November 16, 1936 to Earl and Winifred (Dossett) Carey in Mitchell, SD. She grew up on a farm near Spencer, SD. She attended school in Farmer, SD after which she married Ronald Terveen in 1954. Together they farmed near Emery, SD for many years until moving to Emery in 1990 where they owned and operated the Eagle Café in Emery. This was a very family oriented business where everyone enjoyed gathering. A short time after her husband passed away in 1995, Vonda moved to Lennox, SD to be near her children. She was an active member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Emery and later at Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Lennox, SD. Vonda's passion was spending time with family and friends. Her favorite pastimes were camping, boating and being outdoors. She also enjoyed her "Coffee Time" with many dear friends. Vonda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Our memories of her will be cherished forever. Grateful for having sheared her life are her daughters: Debbie (Ronald) Hanssen, Lennox, Laurie (Richard) Jorgensen, Sioux Falls, Vickie (James) Hall, Lennox and son-in-law, Mike Jennings, Mitchell; ten grandchildren: Jason, John and Jeremy Jennings, Kim (Bob) Spoonemore, Chris (Kim) Hanssen, Keli (Bret) Brende, Kayla and Cody Jorgensen and Miranda and Jamie Hall; nine great-grandchildren: Kendra and Carson Jennings, Hailey and Landon Spoonemore, Ryan, Aiden, Bennett and Avery Hanssen and Andie Brende; siblings: Carol Hart, White Bear Lake, MN, Gene (Norma) Carey and sister-in-law, Pam Carey both of Ham Lake, MN. Vonda was preceded in death by her husband Ronald, daughter, Julie Jennings, parents, brother, Jim Carey, brother-in-law, Kenny Hart and mother and father -in-law, Henry and Tina Terveen. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Lennox. Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at Dindot-Klusmann Funeral Home, Lennox with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m.
