Vonda Oltmanns

Vonda Leigh Oltmanns, of Sioux Falls, passed from this life on March 30, 2026 at Ava's House in Sioux Falls at the age of 77. Please join her family for a visitation from 5:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Jarman Family Funeral Home in Lennox. The funeral will take place at 11:00 am the following day, Thursday, April 2, 2026 at West Prairie Lutheran Church in Lennox. Family requests that guests wear casual clothes for the service. The funeral will also be streamed online for those who are unable to attend: https://www.youtube.com/@westprairielutheranchurch/streams Vonda was born in Sioux Falls on June 13, 1948 to parents Sidney and Jennie Peterson. The family settled in Worthing South Dakota, where she attended grade school before graduating from Lennox High School. She stayed in the area and raised her four boys in Lennox. After a few years as a beautician, Vonda began working in production for various manufacturing companies in town including Adams, where she met Tim Bartling, who journeyed by her side for the rest of her life. With love in her heart and a door that was always open, Vonda cared for family, friends, and animals in need. She gave freely of her time and her resources, whether hosting a family gathering, cooking or baking for people, or sharing a kind word of encouragement. She was always up for a road trip, a stop at the casino, a Saturday spent at rummage sales, or cheering on just about any sports team. Over the past several years, Vonda remained strong, fighting through cancer and multiple illnesses and coming back stronger each time. She cherished every moment with her family and loved them dearly. Left to remember her are Tim Bartling with whom she spent the last 35 years; sons, Jody Oltmanns of Sioux Falls, Jason Oltmanns of Colorado, and Chad Oltmanns of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Sage Oltmanns (Kayla Aymar) of Sioux Falls, and Madison Oltmanns of Pensacola, Florida; step-son, Trace Bartling (Jenna Sauer) of Sioux Falls; niece, Kandis (Dan) Moore of Chancellor; nephew, Derrik (Tonya) Plucker of Las Vegas; great nieces and nephews, Kaydi (Cade) Kats, Dakodah Moore, Dalton Plucker, and Coleman Palmer; her dear friend Linda Olmstead; and her little dog Bonzo. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her son, Brian Oltmanns, sister Beverly Plucker, brother-in-law Duane Plucker, and step-sons Justis Bartling and Dalton Bartling.
