Tonya Clark

Tonya Sue Clark packed up her tackle box to go fish the shores of heaven with the Good Lord on July 6, 2025 at age 67. Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 9, at West Prairie Lutheran Church, 46788 282nd St, Lennox. Guests are invited to join and greet the family at the church from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm prior to the service and share memories during the fellowship luncheon immediately following. Tonya was born August 19, 1957 in Canton, South Dakota, the oldest of six children born to parents, David and Donna Volden. The family spent much of Tonya's younger years moving around the area, calling Luverne MN home the longest. From there, Tonya’s masterful cooking skills led her to a long career heading up the kitchens of restaurants and bars in the Sioux Falls area. At Famous Dave’s where she worked for many years, her memory lives on in the Tonya Clark Achievement Award, given to employees who manage to work ALMOST as hard as she did. Throughout this time, Tonya was blessed with three children, Alyssia, Adam and Amanda. In 1999, reconnecting after many years, she married the true love of her life, Kent Clark and they went on to spend the next 26 years living as Happy Campers. A caretaker at heart, Tonya knew how to love – through food, through her care and concern for those around her, and through her generous spirit. She was tougher than most – A fish hook through her hand? “No problem!” An awful injury in the garden? “It’s all good!” She was not deterred. Rain or shine, she could be found enjoying her garden, fishing, camping, or having fun at the river that she called her second home, her true Happy Place. We will miss Tonya’s light-heartedness and unconditional love, her spirit, her sense of adventure, and most of all her love for family. Tonya will be forever remembered and loved by, her husband, Kent Clark; children, Alyssia (Megan) McLaughlin, Amanda (Austin) Gilbertson, and Adam Olson; step children, Chad Clark and Chris (Shelley) Clark; her grandchildren who meant the world to her, Mason Olson, Layne Gilbertson, Connor & Finley Clark, Rivers Clark, and Skylar (Alondra) Kidd; siblings, Allyn (Jane) Volden, Amy (Mike) Leu and Jim (Sonia) Volden; nieces, nephews, countless best friends, chosen family and extended family who meant everything to her. Tonya found eternal peace alongside her parents, David Volden, Donna (Don) Underberg, and sisters Peggy Volden and Lori Volden, as well as many others that she has loved along the way. Tonya truly was ONE-OF-A-KIND and will be missed immensely. ♡
