Pruitt Kruse

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pruitt Waylynn Kruse, who lost his courageous battle with OTC Deficiency, a rare genetic disorder, on November 22, 2024. Pruitt was born on May 17, 2024, and from the very beginning, he displayed a spirit of bravery. Pruitt, meaning Brave Little One, showed profound strength and resilience, despite the challenges he faced. Though he battled with OTC Deficiency, a condition that impacts the body's ability to process proteins, his presence inspired the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. In his 6 months of life, he was able to go on a couple of camping adventures and experience a few trips to the zoo and butterfly house with his brothers. Pruitt got to celebrate 4th of July and joined in on all fall family traditions at the pumpkin patch and apple orchard. Per his big brother Paxton's request, they dressed up as superheroes for Halloween because they show bravery like Pruitt. Even though it was thought to be unlikely, we got to see him give us a periodic smile when he was happy, he gave us some coos and babbles, and we got to experience him rolling over. We found comfort in a sloth stuffed animal that seemed to be the magic touch to spur him into getting home from his initial hospital stay. Pruitt, like the sloth, took us with him through life at his pace. Pruitt was a cherished son, brother, nephew, and grandson. He is survived by his parents, Chris & Jordan Kruse, his siblings, Paxton (7) and Pryor (2), his grandparents, Paul & Laurie Kruse and Arlyn & Shannon Weeldreyer, aunts & uncles, as well as a large extended family who will forever hold his memory close in their hearts. A special thanks to the Lennox community for rallying behind us. We will forever be grateful for the thoughts, prayers, and the abundance of support shown at the Brave Little One Golf Tournament, Pruitt's Fall Festival, Pink Out for Pruitt volleyball game, FCCLA Playing for Pruitt football game, Pick the Yard Line for Pruitt at LHS football games, the Lennox Middle School Student Council's Sweet Treats for Pruitt, and Prosper Country Warehouse Family Fun Day and Teen Night. We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Sanford Children's Genetics team, Sanford Children's PICU team, Sanford Children's PRISM team, Aveanna Healthcare nurses, Birth to Three therapists, and all others who offered their support through Pruitt's journey. Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Second Reformed Church, Lennox, SD, with burial in the Lennox Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, also at Second Reformed Church, will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to charity or to Sanford Children's Hospital or the N.U.C.D.F. (National Urea Cycle Disorder Foundation).
