Mary Fischer

Mary Fischer, 73 of Worthing, died Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Avera Doughtery Hospice Cottage, Sioux Falls from complications of A.L.S. Mary Ann Murra was born on July 9, 1939 at Sioux Falls, the daughter of George P. and Della (Bultena) Murra. She grew up in the Lennox area attending Pleasantview Rural School and graduating from Lennox High School in 1957. On December 10, 1957 she married Harold Fischer at the Delaware Reformed Church parsonage. The couple made their home on the family farm southwest of Worthing, where they currently reside. Mary was a homemaker and held several part-time positions at the Northlander gift shop, Northwest Fabrics both in Sioux Falls, Hilda's Heritage, Fiesta Foods, both in Lennox and the Lennox Good Samaritan Center as the activities coordinator. Mary was a member of II Reformed Church, Lennox and had been a member of the Delaware Reformed Church. She enjoyed cake decorating, crocheting and sewing. She had been a church organist and sang in the choir at Delaware Reformed. Mary loved to garden and created many flower gardens around her home. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Harm Bunger. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Harold; two children: Harlan (Sherrie) Fischer, Worthing and Marilyn (Terry) Roberts, Temecula, CA; three grandchildren: Chad (Missy) Fischer, Lennox, Doreen (Eric) Zomer, Canton and Heidi (Justin) Smith, Lennox; six great-grandchildren: Casey Smith, Thomas Fischer, Paige Fischer, Alexis Fischer, Heath Zomer and Isabelle Smith; two sisters: Mavis (Gaylen) Schoffelman and Marjean (Mike) McCormick both of Sioux Falls; step-siblings: Veloris (Maurice) Christensen, Viborg, Ronald Bunger, Sioux Falls and Myron Bunger, Harrisburg as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30 at II Reformed Church, Lennox with burial in the Worthing Cemetery. Visitation also at II Reformed Church will begin at noon Wednesday with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. Dindot-Klusmann Funeral Home, Lennox is in charge of arrangements.
