Joy Klock

Joy Klock, age 89, of Chancellor, SD, passed away on Thursday evening, November 30, 2023, at Trail Ridge Senior Living, Sioux Falls, SD. Muriel Joy Uhe was born on June 9, 1934, in Chancellor, the daughter of Herman and Bertha (Krull) Uhe. She grew up attending school here and then graduated from Chancellor High School in 1952. She went on to earn her Teacher's Certificate from Sioux Falls College and then taught rural school for two years. On December 28, 1953 she was united in marriage to Virgil Klock at the Chancellor Reformed Church. The couple made their home on the farm 3.5 miles north of Chancellor. In 2001, they moved to their home one mile west of Chancellor. Her death ended a marriage union of just weeks short of 70 years. Joy was an active and faithful member of Chancellor Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Dorcas Circle and had served as treasurer for many years. She enjoyed flower gardening, baking, playing her piano and organ, and collecting angels. She loved Christmas and loved to decorate for it. Most of all Joy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who deeply loved her family and enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's activities and sporting events. Besides her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her siblings, JoAnne (Hank) Ludens, James Uhe and Justin Uhe. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Virgil; children: LaRon Klock, Gettysburg, SD, Lori (Bill) Randel, Apple Valley, MN, Lynda (Mark) Ament, Sioux Falls, Lisa (Jim) Ihnen, Chester, SD, Leon (Melanie) Klock, Chancellor and Landon (Rachel) Klock, Sioux Falls; 11 grandchildren: Chris (Emily) Randel, Kelsey (Allen) Kempf, Ashley (Drew) Schmitt, Brittany (Darren) Farr, Brianna Ament, Jesse Ihnen, Jerika (Riley) Kirwan, Allyson (Ben) Gaughan, Brady Klock, Kensington Klock, EV Klock, 11 great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends. Services will begin at 10:30 Tuesday, December 5 at Chancellor Reformed Church with burial to follow in the Chancellor Reformed Cemetery. Visitation, also at Chancellor Reformed Church, with the family present, will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.
