Marcella D. Viet

Marcella Darlene Viet, of Sioux Falls was 93 years old when she passed from this life on September 8, 2025 in Valley City, North Dakota. Marcella was born March 2, 1932 on the family farm in Turner County, South Dakota to parents Heye and Hannah (Bosch) Buskohl. She grew up in the Lennox and Parker area and attended grade school #58 near Lennox. She and Elmer Viet were married on October 28, 1955 not too far down the road in Monroe, SD. Just as she was one of two sisters, Marcella was blessed with two daughters. Marcella and Elmer settled their family in Sioux Falls, where she spent most of her life. There, she was a long-time member of First Reformed Church and their Senior Fellowship Group. In 2015, she moved to Valley City, ND to be closer to family. Children were a joy to Marcella. She babysat and taught nursery age Vacation Bible School and she worked at Garfield school for some time. She nurtured her own and other children as she did her beautiful garden. Marcella ironed and did housecleaning for people and her own home was a place of warmth and comfort. She was attentive to those around her whether in need of refreshment, encouragement or prayer. Marcella is survived by her children Pamela (Scott) Engelhart, Marsha (David) Montecuollo, her grandchildren Alex (Holly) Engelhart, Sarah (Sam) Nielsen, Rebecca (Daniel) Carvalho, and her great-grandson Micah Nielsen. She was preceded in death by her parents Heye and Hannah, her husband Elmer, and her sister IlaMae Petersen. A special thank you to the HIA Hospice staff and the staff at the CIrcle of Life Cottage at St. Raphael for all of the care and support you gave to Marcella and us during her time with you. Thank you for making this part of her journey peaceful and comfortable! We are eternally grateful! A visitation with Marcella's family present will be from 5-7pm Thursday, September 18, 2025 with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 pm, at Jarman Family Funeral Home in Lennox. Her funeral service with luncheon to follow will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 19, 2025 also at the funeral home. Please see highlighted map for designated parking the day of the service.
