Marcea Marlette

Marcea Marlette, 83, of Sioux Falls, SD, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the Sanford Ava's House hospice. Marcea Joy Miller was born at home in Davis, SD, on July 23, 1934, the daughter of Lee and Dorothy (Tjaden) Miller. She grew up and attended school in Davis and then graduated from Hurley High School. She taught school in Wakonda before finishing her bachelor's degree at the University of South Dakota. She then went on to teach in Mitchell, SD, where she met her husband Gerald Marlette in 1964. The couple lived in Redfield, SD, where Marcea raised their children and worked as a substitute teacher for Redfield Public Schools. She went on to work in the Head Start Program for over 25 years and was a tutor and in home visitor for families with special needs children. While living in Redfield, Marcea was an active member of St Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield where she taught CCD classes for many years and was involved in the Altar Society. When she moved to Sioux Falls, she joined St Mary Catholic Church and taught pre-school CCD for 2 years. Throughout her years, Marcea enjoyed league bowling, and playing cribbage, whist and bingo with her friends and family. Always the school teacher, Marcea enjoyed decorating the door of her apartment with seasonal themes and decorations. Most of all Marcea loved and cared for her children and grandchildren. Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Mary (John) Neumayer, Madrid, IA, Carolyn (John) Larsen, Sioux Falls and Robert Marlette, Sioux Falls; three grandchildren: Jordan Neumayer, Grimes, IA, Katie Larsen, Brookings, SD and Ben Larsen, Sioux Falls; two brothers: Roger (Arlele) Miller, Titusville, FL and Donald (Judy) Miller, Overland Park, KS as well as other relatives and friends. Marcea Marlette, 83, of Sioux Falls, died Sunday, Apr. 22, 2018 at Sanford Ava's House hospice. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 28 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2109 S. 5th Ave, Sioux Falls. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, at Dindot-Klusmann Funeral Home, Lennox, SD. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may directed to Lifescape or St. Mary Catholic Church, Sioux Falls.
