Kay Harms

Kay Harms, 78, of Lennox, SD, died Sunday, April 10, 2022, at the Centerville Care and Rehab Center, Centerville, SD. Kay Frances Foos was born at Sioux Falls, SD, on September 2, 1943, the daughter of Francis and Bessie (Skinner) Foos. She grew up in the rural Beresford area attending rural school and then graduated from Beresford High School in 1961. On April 5, 1963, she was united in marriage to Roger Harms at the Northside Baptist Church, Sioux Falls. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls briefly, then in Tea, SD for 15 years, before moving to their rural Lennox acreage, where they have lived for the past 43 years. In addition to being a homemaker, Kay had worked outside the home as a bank teller and was employed by a clothing factory and a medical supply company. Kay's death ended a marriage union of just over 59 years. Kay was an active and faithful member of the Oak Hills Baptist Church. She was a passionate flower gardener who grew exceptional rose bushes. She was an excellent cook, who was named Argus Leader Cook of the Week in the mid 1970's. Kay always enjoyed singing and in younger years sang in a vocal duet. She thoroughly enjoyed entertaining guests for Sunday meals in her home. Most of all, Kay was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who deeply loved her family. Besides her parents, Kay was preceded in death by brothers: Jack, Tom, Gary and Curt and sisters: Nancy and one sister in infancy; one great-granddaughter, Meghan Harms. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Roger; sons: Bryan (Jennifer) Harms, West Haven, UT and Jerry (Shelly) Harms, Lennox; seven grandchildren: Justin (Samantha) Harms, Farr West, UT, Brittany Harms, West Haven, UT, Josh (Traci) Harms, Ogden, UT, Jordan (Jamie) Harms, Ogden, UT, Breanne (fiance Ryan Munk) Harms, Ogden, UT, Austin Harms, Tea and Tyler (Ashley) Harms, Oklahoma City, OK; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Steven Foos, Omaha, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 15 at Oak Hills Baptist Church, 6201 S Lyncrest Ave, Sioux Falls, followed by fellowship time and then burial in the Chancellor Baptist Cemetery, rural Chancellor, SD. Visitation, also at Oak Hills Baptist Church, with the family present, will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be directed to the Union Gospel Mission, Sioux Falls, SD.
