John Wildeboer

John Wildeboer, 91, died Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at his rural Lennox home under hospice care. John Wildeboer was born on November 18, 1927, the seventh of eleven children to Claus and Effie (Bartels) Wildeboer, on the same family farm southeast of Lennox, where he lived and died. He grew up here attending Bennett Rural School #89. On September 10, 1958 he was united in marriage to Gloria Osterberg at the Church of the Bible in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple made their home near Parker, SD, for six years before moving to their family farm southeast of Lennox. John was a farmer who also had a love for animals, specifically the cows and calves he raised. He had also worked seasonally at John Morrell and Co. for many years. He was an active and faithful member of the Falls Church in Sioux Falls, Church of the Bible and Calvary Assembly of God, where he had served as an usher. John was passionate about Chevrolet automobiles and Allis Chalmers tractors. He still owned his father's Allis Chalmers 1937 WC tractor. He was meticulous about maintaining his farm, buildings and yard. He took pride in being on time to everything, which meant he was always the first one to show up, always early and never late. Most of all, John was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by one son, Gerald on July 25, 1985; one grandson, Niko Valdizan; eight siblings: Rena Heibult, Harm Wildeboer, Eppo Wildeboer, Martin Wildeboer, Grace Blackman, Henry Wildeboer, Donald Wildeboer and Calvin Wildeboer. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of over 60 years, Gloria; children: Julie (Jorge Valdizan) Wildeboer, Brea, CA, Gwenda (Michael) Klingbile, Lennox and Johnathan (Stephanie) Wildeboer, Lennox; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Hilka Soderberg and Leona Wildeboer, both of Sioux Falls, as well as other relatives and a host of friends. Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 12 at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, SD with burial to follow in the Lennox Cemetery. Visitation with the family present, will be held at Dindot-Klusmann Funeral Home, Lennox, 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.
