Garry Andrews

Garry Andrews, 54, of Tea, SD, went to his Heavenly home, Monday, January 7, 2019 at Ava's House hospice, Sioux Falls, SD, following a courageous 6 year battle with cancer. Garry Scott Andrews was born on August 14, 1964, at Madison, WI, the son of Ray and Karen (Gorsuch) Andrews. Being part of a military family, Garry grew up all over the U.S. and abroad. His favorite home was in Riccone, Italy. He graduated from Douglas High School at Ellsworth Air Force Base, Box Elder, SD. He went on to earn a vocational degree in computer technology. On July 24, 1987 he married Denise Stride at Eastside Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls and then moved to Tea in 1992, where they currently reside. Garry's first job was working for Automated Systems in Sioux Falls. He had several other computer technology related jobs and was currently working as a Business Data Analyst for Sanford Health in Sioux Falls. Garry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Tea and had served as a confirmation mentor. His passion was serving in leadership for the Boy Scouts of America. He began assisting with the Boy Scouts when son, Nick entered scouts and later became the Scoutmaster of Tea Troop 99. Garry loved to see his young scouts advance as they grew and matured. He loved to camp with the troop and even when illness no longer allowed the outings, he still enjoyed the involvement in planning the camps. He was a devoted husband and father who deeply loved his family. He enjoyed being part of his children's activities and loved the family pets. He liked NFL football and was a Minnesota Vikings fan. Garry enjoyed movies of all genres, except romantic comedies. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his story telling abilities. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of nearly 32 years, Denise, and children, Nick and Samantha all of Tea; his parents, Ray and Karen Andrews, Box Elder, SD; sister, Stephanie (Chet) Weymouth, Box Elder, SD; his nephews. Zach (Makayla) Weymouth, and Taylor Weymouth, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 11 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Tea with burial to follow in the Tea Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation with the family present, also at Trinity Lutheran, will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
