Floyd Schriever

Floyd Schriever, 95, of Viborg, SD, died Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Centerville Care and Rehab Center. Floyd Schriever was born on March 5, 1923, on a farm west of Lennox, SD, the son of Folkert and Lena (Bruns) Schriever. He attended Middleton Rural School District #23 in Turner County. Floyd worked on the family farm and as a mechanic. He had a great love for horses, especially his team, Tom and Fanny. On November 6, 1956 he was united in marriage to Arlis Henke, at the Delaware Reformed Church parsonage. The couple lived on a farm south of Lennox. In 1957 they moved to a farm north of Centerville where they started their family, milked cows, fed cattle and raised hogs. In 1973 they bought their current farm northeast of Viborg and continued farming, milking and raising cattle. Floyd retired in 1986, but remained interested in farming. Floyd was able to remain on the farm until moving to the Centerville Care and Rehab Center on August 25. Floyd loved to visit with people and could always find topics of common interest to talk about. He was an accomplished leather worker and made many useful items. He liked to tinker and enjoyed woodworking. He built bird houses, tool boxes and even a miniature outhouse. Besides his parents, Floyd was also preceded in death by one son, Arlen; brothers: Harm, Karl and George; sisters: Elizabeth, Kate and Sena and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in law, nieces and nephews. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of nearly 62 years, Arlis; children: LaVonne (Kenneth) Booze, Madison and Allen (Naomi Lindstrom) Schriever, Viborg; four grandchildren: James (Kari) Booze, Wayne (Michelle) Booze, Jennifer (Clint) LaPreze and Tracy Booze; five great-grandchildren; siblings: Grace Boterman and LeRoy Schriever, both of Sioux Falls; honorary grandchildren: Michael (Alicia Geuther) Lindstrom, Eric Lindstrom, Kyle (Alysia) Lindstrom and Hope Lindstrom, two honorary great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 11 at Dindot-Klusmann Funeral Home, Lennox with burial to follow in the Delaware Reformed Cemetery, rural Lennox. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Dindot-Klusmann Funeral Home.
