Earl Fischer

Earl Fischer, 66, of Lennox, SD, died Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at his home, under hospice care, surrounded by his family, following a valiant fight with cancer. Earl David Fischer was born on September 14, 1954 at Sioux Falls, SD, the son of Johnnie and Mabel (Schoffelman) Fischer. With his family he lived south of Wall Lake, SD until the death of his father in 1967. Earl assumed the role of "man" of the family. He continued his education in Lennox and then graduated from Lennox High School. On December 31, 1982 he was united in marriage to Kyra Nowak at Lennox. The couple made their home in Lennox. With some mentorship, Earl became on outstanding auto mechanic. He continued this career until just shortly before illness forced his retirement from Dave's Service in Lennox, several weeks ago. Earl was raised and belonged to the Germantown Presbyterian Church. His hobbies were his work at the service station, towing and volunteering on the Lennox Volunteer Fire Department for 30 plus years, serving 10 years as Fire Chief. He had belonged to the Lennox Jaycees, was an original member of the SD Towing Association and served as President of the Lincoln County Firefighter's Association. Earl enjoyed his children's and grandchildren's many activities and was very proud of their accomplishments. Most of all, Earl deeply loved his family and enjoyed helping people. Earl was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie in 1967, his mother, Mabel in 2010, one sister, Nancy Boyd in 2019 and step-father, Stanley Johnson in 2000. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Kyra; children: Nicole (Mike) Paetow, Hurley, Justin (Jennifer) DeCou, Lennox and Megan (Dustin) Peterson, Tea; seven grandchildren: Kirsten Paetow, Jaetin DeCou, Jenaka DeCou, Klayton Paetow, Jayla DeCou, Paesyn Peterson and Brayton Earl Peterson; siblings: Joyce (Kenard) Simonsen, Hurley, Jolene (Douglas) Berens, Hurley, Eldonna (Randy) Hanisch, Lennox, Wayne (Amy) Fischer, Lennox, Harlay Fischer, Lennox and Mary Jo (Tim) Hooten, Quitman, AR ; special friend, Danny Morris, Fort Gibson, OK as well as host of other relatives and friends. Public services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 at Germantown Presbyterian Church, rural Chancellor. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Lennox Fire Station.
