Craig Kruse

Craig Kruse, 61, Sioux Falls, died suddenly, Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Sanford Tracy Medical Center, Tracy, MN, of an apparent heart attack. Craig Randal Kruse was born on December 5, 1956 in Watertown, SD, the son of Arnold and Audrey (Bangerter) Kruse. He grew up and attended school in Alcester, SD and graduated from Alcester High School in 1975. He attended Northern State College for a short time before beginning his lifelong career in the lumber yard business. Craig was united in marriage to Jane Eilers on June 3, 1978 at the Alcester Baptist Church. The couple made their home in Bridgewater, SD, Montevideo, MN, Lennox, SD and then Sioux Falls, SD in 2012. He worked for Great Plains Supply in Canton, Bridgewater and Montevideo. In 1985, he and his father purchased the lumber yard in Lennox and he eventually became the owner of Kruse Building Center in Lennox, Canton and Beresford. He loved working alongside his father, brothers and sons in the family business. Most recently Craig worked for The Formatop Company in Sioux Falls. Craig was an active and faithful member of the Second Reformed Church where he had served as a Deacon. He had also served on the Lennox City Planning and Zoning Board and belonged to Lennox Commercial Club. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins, as well as a longtime fan of the Lennox Orioles. He rarely missed an event that a family member might be part of. Most of all Craig loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and son. Craig's mother, Audrey, preceded him in death on December 27, 2009. Those grateful for having shared in his life include: his wife of over 40 years, Jane; four sons: Nick Kruse, Sioux Falls, Ryan (Jessica) Kruse, Tracy, and their son, Jackson, Steve (Amanda) Kruse, Lennox and their children, Nate and Audra, and Andy Kruse, Sioux Falls; father, Arnie Kruse, Sioux Falls, five brothers: Gary (Ramona) Kruse, Inwood, IA, Brad (Mary Jo) Kruse, Manson, IA, Pat (Cheryl) Kruse, Phoenix, AZ, Scott (Nancy) Kruse, Beresford, and Paul (Laurie) Kruse, Lennox, as well as other relatives and a host of friends. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 28 at Second Reformed Church, Lennox, SD with burial to follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Alcester, SD. Visitation with the family present, also at Second Reformed Church, will be 5 to 7 Tuesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
